On December 26, 2018, Northway Faction infiltrated Site B33 — a laboratory belonging to Boreas Research Facility, violating a previously signed cooperation treaty. The operation took place in the morning, when the facility was having a shift change. The organization sent only one operative — Bakir Zadeh. Zadeh was later captured and executed by security personnel of the facility. This incident marked the start of the war between Northway and Boreas.
Cause
It is unknown to this day as to why Northway decided to attack the BRF. The main idea behind the operation belonged to Mikhail Kovac, the second-in-command in the organization. Some suggest that Kovac was jealous of Urakolouy's organization, while others say that he was just looking for trouble. Before the operation, Northway and Boreas signed a cooperation treaty.
Operation
On December 21, 2018, Kovac proposed the idea of attacking Site B33 to Volkov. Kovac backed up the idea by saying that Boreas was «illegally experimenting on humans». Volkov immediately agreed upon hearing the alleged crime.
On December 26, Northway sent one of its members to the south side of the facility. Bakir Zadeh, an Iranian member of Northway, tried entering through the ventilation systems of the facility, but was immediately caught by a motion sensor. On-site security personnel apprehended Zadeh and took him to the interrogation room. Urakolouy was alerted of the infiltration.
Failed rescue
After losing contact with the operative, Volkov organized a rescue mission for Zadeh. This mission failed, however, as Urakolouy ordered Zadeh's immediate execution to prevent him from divulging any information he might have gathered during his time at the facility. With the death of Zadeh, the whole operation was called off.
Aftermath
Due to the death of Zadeh, Volkov was furious at Boreas Research Facility and Urakolouy specifically. The leader personally declared war on the organization two days later.
