Northway's armed internal dispute, or sometimes simply called The Northway Civil War, was a period of armed struggle and unrest within Northway Faction and its leadership. It lasted from September 14 to October 28, 2018, and resulted in the exile of Egor Krupin from Moscow. The conflict was caused by Krupin's general discontent with the growing militaristic tendencies within the organization (a result of Kovac's influence on Volkov).
As a result of this conflict, Northway and the Anti-Northway Faction Coalition lost approximately 1,800 members. Northway executed most of the captured ANFCO members due to Volkov's attitude towards treason. Shortly after the conflict, the organization purged its leadership and Volkov personally promoted Kovac to be his closest assistant and friend. Krupin, on the other hand, quickly fled from Moscow and moved to Ukraine for a short time.
Cause
Throughout Northway's existence, Kovac fed Volkov increasingly militaristic ideas. As a result, Volkov became increasingly paranoid and began spending more money on organization forces. These expenses have caused many of Northway's other businesses to suffer, including Krupin's personal charity department for recently released convicts. Krupin knew that Kovac was the one influencing Volkov. That is why he tried several times to talk to him and tell him that Kovac was manipulating him. Kovac, on the other hand, was misinforming him, telling him that Krupin was trying to seize power.
The resulting tensions between Krupin and Volkov & Kovac led to this conflict. During September 2018, Krupin was slowly gathering like-minded members within the organization for a revolution.
Conflict
On September 14, 2018, Krupin, alongside 1,400 NTF members, declared the establishment of the Anti-Northway Faction Coalition. The coalition's goals were simple: Depose Kovac and change Northway's policy. The ANFCO immediately started taking over Northway territories in Moscow, which resulted in Volkov declaring war on the coalition.
Due to Volkov's strong stance on treason, he declared a «no prisoners» policy for captured ANFCO members. Coalition forces were executed on the spot, without trial. Krupin was still trying to talk some sense into Volkov, but Kovac's manipulative tactics led to Northway trying to kill Krupin. The assassination attempt was foiled by ANFCO members, but surprisingly, Krupin bore no grudge against Volkov.
The conflict lasted until the end of October. Krupin, not wanting to fight his former friends anymore, surrendered and fled Moscow. Volkov tried to intercept him as he fled, but local law enforcement proved a huge obstacle. Krupin then took a plane to Ukraine. The remaining coalition forces were captured, rounded up and executed by Northway.
Aftermath
Shortly after the end of the crisis, Volkov purged Northway's leadership and promoted Kovac to be his closest advisor and ally. Krupin fled Russia and temporarily moved to Ukraine, to possibly establish a new organization there. After almost two months since the end of the conflict, Krupin sent a message to Volkov, which read:
